Aarts Nursery (Asten-Heusden)

Until 2022, Aarts Nursery was run by Gerard, Els, and their son Rens. In January 2022, Rens took over the business completely. He cultivates cucumbers and vine tomatoes at a modern greenhouse horticulture company covering 9.6 hectares, located in Asten-Heusden (southeastern Brabant). Each year, he produces around 16 million cucumbers and approximately 500,000 kilos of vine tomatoes.

To keep the business up to date, Rens is constantly engaged in extensive modernization and innovation. In 2024, Aarts Nursery, together with Aelmans Horticultural Consultancy, prepared a 7.3-hectare greenhouse expansion including new business facilities and a new technical area. Aelmans was responsible for: land acquisition, mediation, permit applications, soil research, soil surveys, nitrogen analysis, acoustic research, notification under the Activities Decree, and the design of the greenhouse and business areas. During the construction phase, Aelmans also took care of construction meetings, scheduling, site inspections, and final delivery.
The project will be completed during the course of 2025. Aarts Nursery has been our client for many years — the previous major construction project dates back to 2012, when an entirely new greenhouse was built right next to the Bleekerweg alongside the residential house.
